The benefits experienced from SAM-e in people who suffer from Osteoarthritis have been impressive. This is good news for over 40 million people who suffer in the United States. This information is nothing new, however, to people in Europe and in Germany where it is an approved treatment. In 1987, the American journal of medicine dedicated its entire November issue to SAM-e and Osteoarthritis. In this issue there were reviews as well as published findings of clinical studies by C. Padova. The study was conducted on over 21,000 patients over 5 years. Dr. Padova summed up the studies by saying "The intensity of the therapeutic activity of SAM-e against Osteoarthritis is similar to that exerted by non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but its tolerability it higher. Based on these findings, SAM-e is proposed as the prototype of a new class of safe drugs for the treatment of Osteoarthritis".*
