A study published in March of 1987 in the British Journal of Dermatology reported on the use of SAM-e along with a drug called chloroquine to help with a rare disorder in which there is a disturbance in the metabolism of breakdown products from hemoglobin. A boy and a girl with the disease where administered SAM-e and chloroquine. Within 3 months both children attained complete clinical and biochemical recovery without any side effects. They concluded " this combined therapy appears to be safe, simple, effective and very convenient for both the patients and the physicians".*
